ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Graphic Designer is responsible for creating high-quality visual designs across all ATSSA platforms and channels, including digital, print, video, social media, web, and event materials. This role serves as the department’s primary design expert and brand steward, ensuring visual consistency, creativity, and innovation across all initiatives. The position emphasizes creative execution, staying current with design trends, and leveraging emerging technologies, including AI tools, to improve design workflows. The Graphic Designer also provides backup support for trade shows and website-related design needs as required.


Key responsibilities:


Design & Creative Development:


  • Create layouts and formats for printed publications, including case studies, catalogs, and other assigned Serve as the primary graphic designer for ATSSA across print, digital, social media, video, and web assets.
  • Create layouts, graphics, and visual assets for publications, marketing collateral, promotional campaigns, and internal communications.
  • Design trade show and event materials, including signage, booth graphics, on-site visual assets, and branded giveaways.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage branded templates (e.g., PowerPoint, Canva, digital ads, social graphics) to ensure brand consistency.
  • Support website updates and design needs in coordination with the MarCom team and external partners.
  • Design and source creative concepts for trade show giveaways and branded items.
  • Provide backup design and on-site support for trade shows as needed.

Research, Innovation & Trends

  • Conduct ongoing research into graphic design trends, tools, and best practices across marketing, communications, and events.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and AI-powered design applications and recommend opportunities for integration into workflows.
  • Proactively suggest creative approaches to enhance visual storytelling, engagement, and brand presence.

Brand Stewardship & Asset Management

  • Uphold and protect the ATSSA brand by ensuring consistent visual identity across all materials.
  • Organize, maintain, and update the marketing and communications library of artwork and digital assets.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align visual design with organizational goals and messaging.

Collaboration & Support

  • Work closely with MarCom team members to support campaigns and initiatives while maintaining a strong focus on design execution.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience - Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, marketing, or a related field, plus a minimum of three years of relevant marketing and design experience. A combination of education and relevant experience (5+ years) may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.


Skills and Knowledge - A strong portfolio demonstrating graphic design expertise across digital, print, and multimedia platforms using current design best practices is essential, along with expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and the ability to quickly learn new design tools and software. The role requires experience designing for events, exhibits, trade shows, and large-format applications, as well as a working knowledge of web, video, and social media design standards. Familiarity with AI-powered design tools and an interest in emerging technologies are important, paired with strong attention to detail, production accuracy, and brand consistency. Candidates should be able to translate concepts and content into compelling visual storytelling and demonstrate proven project management skills, including managing multiple design projects simultaneously within shared timelines. Experience coordinating with printers, fabricators, and external vendors is needed, along with a collaborative and adaptable work style in a fast-paced environment serving diverse internal stakeholders. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and digital collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams is required, as is experience supporting marketing campaigns and integrated communications. Familiarity with brand-system development and design governance is preferred, and association or nonprofit experience is a plus.


Travel – Limited, travel to ATSSA meetings and tradeshows as assigned.
