Summary

The student graphic designer will create effective and attractive marketing materials and internal documents for the College of Arts and Sciences, its units and programs that adhere to BGSU brand standards. This position provides practical experience in design concepts, applications and production, branding, time management, project presentation, and client interaction.

The graphic designer will work independently and collaboratively with staff in the College and the Office of Marketing & Communications (M&C). This position is supervised by the Marketing Projects Manager in the College. Additional guidance is provided by graphic designers in M&C.

Essential Functions

  • Design flyers, posters, brochures, booklets, signage, advertisements, invitations, forms, graphic elements for print, social media, and web applications, and any other material requested for the College and its units (departments, programs, student services) that adhere to BGSU brand standards.
  • Communicate with team members to receive feedback on revisions and improvements in regard to design and brand guidelines and incorporate that feedback into projects.
  • Ensure projects are completed effectively and on schedule.
  • Organize and prioritize projects.
  • Work with printers and other vendors to produce materials for distribution. Produce small-batch projects by hand using existing supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a Graphic Design major in the BGSU School of Art with at least two full semesters remaining at BGSU.
  • Working experience with InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop required.
  • Strong design and communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with creating print materials and images for web, social media, and other digital applications.
  • Good organizational and time management skills. Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work as part of a marketing and communications team within the College.
  • Skills in drawing and illustration preferred but not required.
