Graphic Designer - Print Production (Prepress)

If you take pride in getting things right the first time, think a step ahead, and genuinely enjoy being part of a production team that runs well: this role was built for you.

Firefly Graphics produces large-format fabric displays, SEG frame systems, and trade show graphics for brands and businesses nationwide. The work is technically precise, the standards are high, and the team actually functions. If clean systems and work that matters to the business sounds like your kind of environment — keep reading.

As a Production Artist, you'll be the engine between incoming orders and the production floor: handling prepress, file setup, and print-ready artwork for large-format fabric displays, SEG frame systems, banners, and trade show graphics. This is hands-on production work: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign are your daily tools, and you'll work with files destined for wide-format RIP output on substrates like dye-sublimation fabric, vinyl, and tension frame media.
If you've worked in a print shop, sign shop, or wide-format production environment, you'll recognize this work immediately. If you haven't, but you're detail-driven and production-minded, we'll train you on our specs.

What you'll own:
Production-Ready Files: You set up files with correct sizing, bleeds, color profiles, and material specs. A file is done when it can go straight to RIP with zero questions.

Pre-Flight & Proofing: You review incoming customer art before work starts, very sizes, materials, and job intent. Then you'll build accurate proofs that eliminate disputes and reprints. Catching problems early is a skill here and it's one of the most valued things you do to support the team.

Templates & File Organization: You'll build and maintain clean, reusable templates for repeat job types. Version control matters. Easy-to-find files keep the shop moving.

Communication Bridge: You sit between our CSR team and production floor. You'll meet directly with customers to discuss design needs, art changes and order questions. When communication flows cleanly through your desk, everything downstream runs better and that's the real impact.

You'll Thrive Here If:
› You notice details others miss and it bothers you when something's off.

› You ask questions early instead of guessing and fixing later

› You take ownership when something goes wrong: no deflection, no excuses

› You're curious about AI tools for mockups, file automation, and workflow and actively looking for ways to use them

› You think in systems, not just individual to-do items

› Strong in Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign are your daily tools

› You like being useful across teams, not just heads-down in your own lane

Bonus Skills (Not required but we notice):
› Background in a print shop, sign shop, wide-format, or apparel environment

› RIP software or large-format production workflow experience

› Familiarity with fabric, vinyl, SEG systems, or tension frame graphics

› Templates you've built that other people actually still use

› Processes you've improved and clear stories about how you have done that

A Straight Note on Fit

This role is production first. The most successful person in this seat loves finishing things correctly more than making things beautiful. They thrive with structure, move well between tasks and dont' need someone standing over them to know what to do next. Creative and branding work is part of the picture but it's not the whole frame.
If that sounds like the kind of work that energizes you, we'd like to meet you.
