Graphic Designer - School of Business

Position Announcement

Join the marketing and communications team at Utah Valley University’s Woodbury School of Business as a Graphic Designer and help bring ideas to life through thoughtful, engaging design.

In this role, you’ll create visual content that supports programs, events, and marketing initiatives across digital, print, web, and social platforms. From campaign graphics and promotional materials to event signage and web visuals, your work will play an important role in how the Woodbury School of Business shares its story with students, alumni, and the broader community.

You’ll work closely with a collaborative marketing team on a wide variety of projects, giving you the opportunity to apply your creativity, strengthen your design skills, and build a portfolio of meaningful work.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving visual problems, designing within brand guidelines, and contributing to projects that have a real impact on students and programs.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Project Creation: Creates simple design projects from concept to completion, with the support of the Director of Marketing and Communications. Develops and communicates the creative vision for projects. Attends client meetings to understand their design needs and objectives. Ensures consistency and adherence to brand identity across various design projects. Assists in the creation of basic design layouts for print and digital media under supervision. Creates basic digital graphics and images for websites and social media under supervision. Assists in the production of printed materials, such as brochures and posters.
  • Project Development: Reviews work with senior designers and incorporates senior designer and client feedback. Works closely with copywriters, photographers, and other creative professionals.
  • Project Management: Manages several simple projects simultaneously with close supervision, ensuring deadlines are met. Limited client interaction; primarily internal communication and taking instructions from supervisors. Monitors project progress and addresses issues or concerns that arise with senior designers.
  • Participates in training sessions to enhance skills in design software, techniques, and institutional branding. Adheres to established brand guidelines. Limited role in brand evolution. Explore emerging technologies and trends to keep designs fresh and relevant.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related discipline, and one year of experience in managing a portfolio of creative projects; OR any combination of education and experience totaling five years.

Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree in a related discipline plus two years of experience; OR a combination of education and experience in the creative arts/graphic design/printing industries with an emphasis in current digital technologies and traditional methodologies totaling six years.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Knowledge


  • Strong knowledge of best design practices and concepts.
  • Proficient in basic design software (Adobe Creative Suite, etc.); requires guidance for advanced tools.
  • Proficient knowledge of color theory, color relationships, and typography.
  • Working knowledge of digital design principles.
  • Working knowledge of web development.
Skills
  • Professional experience as a Graphic Designer.
  • Skills in computers and computer applications, including Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Skills in basic design principles; focuses on learning and developing creative skills.
  • Skills in verbal and written communications.
Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to create brand-unified, high-quality products.
  • Ability to accept feedback.
  • Ability to meet and enforce deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
