POSITION: Grounds and Maintenance Technician

LOCATION: NDSCS – Wahpeton, North Dakota

TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Full-time, 12-month, benefited position

WHO MAY BE CONSIDERED: Anyone eligible to work in the United States

JOB SUMMARY: Safely and efficiently perform campus grounds and general maintenance that might include: assisting with campus litter, trash removal, and recycling program. Landscape maintenance includes lawn and ground care including planting, chemical application, mowing, trimming, and weeding. Snow and ice management. Tree and hedge trimming. Exterior and interior building maintenance. Parking lot and street surface maintenance to include signage, curb/sidewalk inspection and maintenance. Minor repairs to state fleet and various rolling stock equipment. Grounds personnel must be available for early morning and/or late-night hours when snow or ice is forecasted.

Minimum Requirements


  • Valid Driver’s license

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent

  • Equipment operation experience

  • Basic computer skills

  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • ND class B Driver’s License with air brake endorsement
  • Mechanical Maintenance and skilled repair experience
  • Landscaping experience

Additional Information


SALARY: $37,000-$39,550, commensurate with education and experience
