What You Will Accomplish
Join the launch team of a distinctive independent lifestyle luxury hotel, where you will have a direct impact on shaping the commercial foundation and brand legacy. As the Pre-Opening Group Sales Manager, you will drive the group sales strategy in the lead-up to opening, cultivating long-lead business from corporate, association, and incentive segments. This role requires a strategic thinker and proactive seller who thrives in an entrepreneurial, high-touch environment and is passionate about independent hospitality.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Sales Development
- Proactively identify, pursue, and secure new group business opportunities from corporate, incentive, and lifestyle-aligned accounts to build a solid base for opening and beyond.
- Leverage your industry network and develop strategic relationships to drive brand visibility in key domestic and international feeder markets.
- Interpret market trends, customer behavior, and competitive activity to inform go-to-market sales strategies specific to an independent luxury positioning.
Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain long-term, high-value client relationships, providing personalized solutions and consistent communication reflective of an independent hotel’s bespoke approach.
- Represent the hotel at industry trade shows, client events, site visits, and sales missions, positioning the property as a distinct, high-touch luxury experience.
- Plan and execute familiarization trips (FAMs) and pre-opening presentations that convey the hotel’s vision, design, and service philosophy.
Sales Execution & Collaboration
- Respond to RFPs with tailored proposals that align with both client goals and the hotel’s service capabilities.
- Collaborate with revenue, marketing, and operations teams to translate client needs into deliverable programs, ensuring alignment across departments.
- Support the development of sales tools, branded assets, and pipeline reports during the pre-opening phase.
Pre-Opening Contribution
- Contribute to the creation of pre-opening sales processes, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and CRM data structure.
- Attend internal business planning, revenue strategy, and training sessions to ensure commercial readiness on opening day.
- Maintain accurate and timely client and prospect data in CRM platforms (Delphi/FDC, Opera, or equivalent).
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, business, or related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
- 2 or more years of group sales experience in an independent or luxury lifestyle hotel setting; pre-opening experience is a strong advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to generate leads, close contracts, and exceed group room night goals.
- Skilled in consultative sales, client storytelling, and creating unique proposals that speak to independent hotel differentiators.
- High proficiency in CRM platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, and hotel sales reporting tools.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Self-starter with a high degree of ownership, flexibility, and creativity.
- Ability and willingness to travel to attend client meetings, events, and key industry functions.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective sale processes designed to attain maximum revenue while ensuring adherence to established operating criteria.
- Strong knowledge of sales techniques with strong skills and ability to negotiate and close sales.
- Requires ability to determine needs of customers and persuasively present sales options through verbal face-to-face and telephone interactions. Must be able to create and effectively provide sales presentations and materials to potential customers. Contacts sometimes contain confidential/sensitive information so requires ability to use discretion. Must demonstrate positive attitude and professional demeanor. Requires strong communication and interpersonal skills and commitment to a high level of guest satisfaction.
