POSITION: Great Start Readiness Lead Teacher (Full-Time School Year Position)

DESCRIPTION: Employment as a Teacher of a Great Start Readiness Program

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a valid teaching certificate, an early childhood specialist (ZA/ZS) endorsement, and at least two semester hours in administration or a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or child development with a specialization in preschool teaching. The transcript will document a major, rather than a minor, in child development or early childhood education.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Instruct students in academic subjects and social interaction skills.
2. Develop instructional objectives for each student tied to standards.
3. Evaluate the progress of students.
4. Assess individual students to determine the level of functioning and appropriate curricular areas.
5. Prepare written reports and evaluations as needed/required.
6. Evaluate and direct the para-educator(s) under his/her immediate supervision in the manner prescribed and as requested by immediate supervisor.
7. Respond to parent/caregiver(s) questions concerning student progress and possible program needs.
8. Contribute, in a positive manner, to the overall quality and operation of the program.
9. Assume responsibility to transport self to the assigned worksite
10. Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
11. Must pass a criminal history background investigation conducted by the Michigan State Police (MSP) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
12. Must meet child day care licensing requirements including CPR and first aid training.
13. Perform other related duties assigned by the Director of Early Childhood and Parenting Programs or designee.
