GTAW/SMAW WELDER

• Welding: Perform high-quality welds using GTAW, SMAW, and sometimes other processes like GMAW on various metals.
• Interpreting plans: Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and welding procedures (WPS) to understand project requirements.
• Equipment operation: Set up, operate, and maintain welding and cutting equipment, including grinders and sanders, and ensure all necessary safety equipment (PPE) is used.
• Quality assurance: Inspect welds for accuracy and quality control, and perform first-article inspections to verify dimensions and specifications.
• Maintenance: Keep the work area clean and organized, and perform routine maintenance on welding equipment.
• Collaboration: Work with other team members, supervisors, and QA/QC personnel to meet production goals and resolve issues.
• Documentation: Track and document job status and other required information accurately.

Skills and requirements

• Experience with both GTAW and SMAW welding techniques is essential.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding specifications accurately.
• Strong understanding of welding safety protocols.
• Physical fitness to handle the demands of the job, including standing, bending, and lifting heavy objects.
• Knowledge of welding equipment and how to maintain and troubleshoot it.
• Good communication skills to interact with supervisors and other team members.
• Valid welder certification is often a requirement.
