BRICKMASON-CARPENTER POSITION SUMMARY
The Authority is currently recruiting a Brickmason-Carpenter to join Georgia World Congress Center. The Brickmason-Carpenter is primarily responsible for masonry type work including but not limited to the installation, maintenance, repair, and finishing of concrete, tile, block, and pavers systems. The Brickmason-Carpenter works closely with facility managers and campus operators to ensure aesthetic and functional standards are maintained. BRICKMASON-CARPENTER PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is moderately exposed to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. The ability to lift 50 pounds or more may be required of this position. Daily shifts will endure various degrees of walking, standing, turning, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, pushing and pulling, requiring a full range of body movements. This position may require work inside or outside of the building, physical plant, as needed by events.
BRICKMASON-CARPENTER ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Campus Horticulturalist, the Brickmason-Carpenter shall perform daily maintenance and repairs of all masonry type work such as concrete, tile, block- walls and floors and systems, and other types of masonry related items as required to maintain our facilities in the highest state of repair achievable.
Assist external service venders and service contractors as required.
Monitor and secure the safekeeping of equipment and supplies as assigned.
Maintain and secure all equipment as assigned.
Order and maintain materials and equipment as required for performance of assigned duties.
Notify supervisor of equipment and facilities requiring repair or replacement.
Participate in all Georgia World Congress Center and Facility management Department training programs as required.
Maintain productivity in accordance with departmental standards, and ensure that maximum efficiency is realized. Supervise Team members with installation of all events.
Maintain accountability of work orders for his/her assigned areas
Actively participate in The Authority training programs as required;
Accurately document and complete administrative paperwork;
Comply with The Authority policies and procedures associated with such programs as risk management, safety, and emergency management;
Maintain an ethical and professional image when interacting with internal and external customers in to ensure customer satisfaction;
Perform other duties, functions, special projects and responsibilities as assigned.
BRICKMASON-CARPENTER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
Understanding of brick, block, and stone materials, including types, strengths, and uses
Knowledge of construction methods, techniques, and masonry tools
Familiarity with building codes, safety regulations, and blueprint reading
Basic math skills for measuring, estimating, and calculating quantities
Knowledge of mortar mixing, curing, and finishing techniques
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
Skilled in cutting, shaping, and laying bricks, blocks, and stone with precision
Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for detailed masonry work
Competence in using masonry tools such as trowels, levels, plumb bobs, and power saws
Physical strength and stamina to lift heavy materials and work outdoors in varying conditions
Attention to detail for alignment, joint finishing, and structural soundness
Problem-solving skills to adapt to site conditions or design challenges
Teamwork and communication skills for working with contractors and construction crews
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Capable of working independently and in a team environment
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in various weather conditions

BRICKMASON-CARPENTER EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED required.
2+ years of experience in welding, building walls, partitions, arches, walkways, or decorative masonry preferred.
Experience with electrical and plumbing systems required.
Prior hands-on masonry or construction experience (apprenticeship or on-the-job training).
Experience with restoration, repair, or maintenance of masonry structures (a plus).
Track record of working safely and efficiently on construction sites.
Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or certification (preferred for journeyman-level masons).

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED), and completion of an apprenticeship program from a trade/technical school preferred. Minimum four (4) years experience as a Brickmason for commercial construction contractor, or similar type background. Education may serve as substitute for experience on basis of two (2) years education for one (1) year of experience.
