We are looking for a friendly, responsible, and service‑oriented Gym Attendant to join our team. The Gym Attendant will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all members. This position involves customer service, facility upkeep, equipment monitoring, and supporting daily gym operations.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Gym Attendant is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment in the gym. Duties include assisting members with equipment, ensuring facility cleanliness, monitoring safety, and providing customer service. Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of all facility-related systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and safety systems.
- Greet members and visitors with a friendly and welcoming attitude.
- Provide assistance to members with inquiries about gym equipment, services, or policies.
- Ensure a positive gym experience by offering helpful guidance and resolving any issues or concerns.
- Maintain cleanliness of the gym, including wiping down equipment, floors, mirrors, and other surfaces.
- Ensure changing rooms, restrooms, and common areas are clean, stocked with supplies, and well-maintained.
- Perform routine cleaning tasks like sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing equipment and high-touch areas.
- Ensure gym equipment is in good working condition and assist members with proper use and setup.
- Report any faulty or broken equipment to management and assist in organizing repairs or replacements.
- Ensure equipment is properly returned to its place after use and assist members in using machines correctly.
- Monitor gym areas to ensure members are using equipment safely and following gym policies.
- Be vigilant for any signs of unsafe behavior, such as improper use of equipment, and intervene when necessary.
- Respond to emergencies, providing basic first aid or CPR if required (depending on certification).
- Enforce gym rules and policies to maintain a respectful and safe environment for all members.
- Monitor supplies like towels, cleaning materials, toiletries, and gym accessories, and restock when necessary.
- Ensure that gym supplies and equipment are well-organized and easy to access.
- Report inventory needs to the management team.
- Provide tours of the gym to new members and explain the layout of the facility, including equipment and services.
- Help new members with basic equipment orientation and offer fitness advice when appropriate.
- Encourage members to ask questions or seek help for fitness-related inquiries.
- Assist in setting up for fitness classes, workshops, or special gym events.
- Ensure event spaces are properly prepared, clean, and organized.
- Assist trainers and other staff in managing classes or member activities when necessary.
- Assist with basic administrative tasks such as checking in members, monitoring attendance, and helping with membership registration or renewals.
- Assist in collecting feedback from members to improve gym services and member experience.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in a gym, fitness center, or customer service role is an advantage.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Friendly, proactive, and customer‑focused attitude.
- Basic knowledge of gym equipment and fitness environments.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast‑paced environment.
- CPR/First Aid certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain).
