Expected hours: 08 hours per day (06 days in a week)

Department: Gynecology & Obstetrics

Reports To: Hospital Administrator / Medical Superintendent /Nursing Supervisor

Salary Package Range: Rs.50000-65000P.M.

Job Summary:

The Gynae Ward In-Charge is responsible for the overall management, supervision, and smooth functioning of the Gynecology & Obstetrics ward. The role ensures high-quality patient care, effective staff management, compliance with hospital policies, and coordination with doctors and allied departments.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care & Clinical Duties

· Ensure safe, ethical, and quality nursing care for gynecology and obstetrics patients

· Monitor antenatal, postnatal, and gynecological patients as per protocols

· Ensure proper medication administration, documentation, and patient monitoring

· Handle emergency situations efficiently and inform consultants promptly

· Ensure infection control practices and patient safety standards

Ward Management

· Maintain discipline, cleanliness, and order in the ward

· Ensure availability and proper use of ward equipment and supplies

· Maintain patient records, admission/discharge files, and nursing notes

· Monitor bed occupancy and patient flow

Staff Supervision & Training

· Supervise staff nurses, midwives, and nursing assistants

· Prepare duty rosters and manage staff attendance

· Guide, train, and mentor junior nursing staff

· Evaluate staff performance and report issues to nursing administration

Coordination & Communication

· Coordinate with gynecologists, anesthetists, pediatric staff, and OT team

· Communicate effectively with patients and attendants regarding care plans

· Liaise with pharmacy, lab, housekeeping, and biomedical departments

Administrative & Compliance Duties

· Ensure adherence to hospital policies, nursing standards, and SOPs

· Participate in audits, inspections, and quality improvement initiatives

· Report incidents, medication errors, or patient complaints appropriately

· Assist management in policy implementation and ward improvements

Required Qualifications:

· Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery or BScN / Post RN BScN

· Valid registration with Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC)

Experience:

· Minimum 3–5 years of nursing experience

· At least 1–2 years in a supervisory or senior nurse role (preferred)

· Experience in Gynecology & Obstetrics ward is mandatory

Skills & Competencies:

· Strong leadership and team management skills

· Good communication and interpersonal skills

· Ability to handle emergencies calmly

· Knowledge of gynecology & obstetric nursing procedures

· Basic computer and record-keeping skills

Working Conditions:

· Shift-based duty (including nights, weekends, and emergencies)

· High-pressure clinical environment
