Our Law Firm is a tenant-focused law firm dedicated to fighting against unlawful housing conditions and landlord negligence. We advocate for tenants facing substandard living conditions, wrongful evictions, and other habitability violations under California and federal law. Our mission is to hold landlords accountable and secure safe, livable housing for all. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Habitability Attorney to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have experience litigating habitability cases, a strong understanding of tenant protection laws, and a commitment to social justice. This role involves representing tenants in lawsuits related to uninhabitable living conditions, negotiating settlements, advocating for clients in court, and trying cases in Los Angeles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent tenants in lawsuits involving habitability violations, including mold, pest infestations, lack of essential services, and structural hazards.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.
  • Litigate cases from intake through trial, including depositions, motion practice, and courtroom advocacy.
  • Negotiate settlements with landlords and property management companies.
  • Advise and educate clients on their rights and legal options regarding unsafe housing conditions.
  • Work collaboratively with expert witnesses, investigators, and other legal team members.
  • Stay up-to-date on local, state, and federal tenant protection laws.

Qualifications:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in the California State Bar.
  • 5+ years of litigation experience, preferably in tenant rights, housing law, or public interest law.
  • Strong advocacy skills and ability to litigate habitability cases effectively.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and negotiation skills.
  • Dedication to tenant advocacy and social justice.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines independently.
  • Fluency in Spanish or another language commonly spoken by tenants.
  • Can work remotely, but must be able to travel to LA Courthouses for necessary FSC + Trials only.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
