Position Overview:
The Head Barista is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the barista team, ensuring the highest standards of coffee quality, service, and customer satisfaction. This role involves supervising staff, maintaining quality control, managing inventory, creating schedules, conducting audits, and handling all necessary documentation. The Head Barista leads by example, fostering a positive and professional work environment while continuously training and developing the team.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Control:
- Maintain and enforce standards for coffee preparation, presentation, and taste to ensure consistency and excellence.
- Regularly check equipment calibration and cleanliness to guarantee optimal performance.
- Monitor beverage preparation to ensure speed, accuracy, and adherence to recipes.
Training & Development:
- Train, mentor, and guide new and existing baristas on brewing techniques, customer service, and product knowledge.
- Conduct refresher training sessions to enhance skills and maintain quality standards.
- Encourage team members’ growth and maintain a culture of continuous improvement.
Scheduling & Team Management:
- Prepare and manage barista staff schedules to ensure proper coverage during peak and off-peak hours.
- Oversee daily shift operations, delegate tasks, and ensure efficient workflow.
- Provide feedback and address performance issues when necessary.
Inventory Control:
- Monitor and manage stock levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other beverage supplies.
- Coordinate with suppliers for orders and deliveries to avoid shortages or overstocking.
Quality & Stock Audits:
- Conduct regular audits of stock, equipment, and beverages to ensure compliance with company standards.
- Report discrepancies and take corrective action as needed.
Paperwork & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of inventory, schedules, training logs, and quality checks.
- Submit daily, weekly, or monthly reports on bar operations and stock usage to management.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven experience as a Senior Barista or Head Barista in a high-volume café or restaurant.
- In-depth knowledge of coffee brewing methods, latte art, and specialty coffee trends.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards.
- Basic knowledge of inventory systems and reporting.
