Job Summary

The Head Barista is responsible for overseeing all coffee operations at KAF Cafe, ensuring high-quality beverage preparation, maintaining consistency, training barista staff, and delivering excellent customer service. This role requires strong leadership, coffee expertise, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities1. Coffee Quality & Preparation

• Prepare and serve high-quality coffee and beverages according to KAF Cafe standards
• Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and portioning
• Monitor espresso extraction, milk texturing, and brewing methods
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of coffee equipment and workstations
• Knowledge and experience in matcha preparation is a must.

2. Team Leadership & Training

• Supervise and lead barista team on shift
• Train new and existing staff on coffee preparation and service standards
• Conduct regular skill assessments and coaching sessions
• Ensure team follows SOPs and company policies

3. Operations Management

• Oversee daily bar operations and workflow
• Ensure proper opening and closing procedures
• Monitor stock levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and supplies
• Coordinate with management for ordering and inventory control

4. Customer Experience

• Deliver excellent customer service and handle guest feedback professionally
• Maintain a welcoming and positive café environment
• Assist in resolving customer complaints quickly and effectively

5. Equipment & Maintenance

• Ensure proper use and maintenance of coffee machines and grinders
• Report any technical issues and coordinate repairs
• Maintain calibration and cleaning schedules

Requirements

• Minimum 2–3 years experience as a Barista, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role
• Strong knowledge of coffee, brewing methods, and latte art
• Leadership and team management skills
• Good communication skills (English required)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of hygiene and safety standards
• Preferred experience: Prior experience in a specialty coffee shop with strong knowledge in coffee and matcha preparation is required/advantageous.
