The Head Catering Waitress is responsible for supervising catering service staff and ensuring the smooth, professional delivery of food and beverage services at events. This role combines hands-on service with leadership duties, maintaining high standards of customer service, hygiene, and presentation while coordinating staff and liaising with event managers or clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise catering waitstaff during events and service periods
- Coordinate event setup, service flow, and breakdown
- Ensure high standards of food presentation, service, and cleanliness
- Brief staff before events on menus, service style, and guest requirements
- Allocate duties and manage staff performance during service
- Act as the main point of contact between catering staff, kitchen team, and event management
- Handle guest inquiries, special requests, and complaints professionally
- Monitor stock levels of service items (linen, crockery, glassware, beverages)
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations
- Train and mentor junior staff and new hires
- Assist with food and beverage service as required
Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a senior waitress, supervisor, or head waitress in catering or hospitality
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced event environments
- Good knowledge of food service standards and etiquette
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Food hygiene certification (preferred or required, depending on employer)
