Head of Accounts and Finance

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Accounts & Finance Department.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed asset accounting functions.
  • Monitor and manage airline operating costs including fuel, airport charges, navigation fees, ground handling, maintenance, and aircraft lease payments.
  • Prepare annual budgets, financial forecasts, and cash flow projections.
  • Conduct budget variance analysis and provide recommendations to management.
  • Manage treasury functions, banking relationships, and cash flow requirements.
  • Ensure timely reconciliation of bank accounts, vendor accounts, and customer accounts.
  • Supervise revenue accounting, ticket sales reconciliation, BSP settlements, and aviation-related financial transactions.
  • Monitor aircraft lease obligations and compliance with financial covenants.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and implement audit recommendations.
  • Manage tax compliance, statutory filings, and liaison with taxation authorities.
  • Develop and maintain effective financial controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Support the CFO in financial planning, business analysis, and strategic decision-making. Assist in aircraft acquisition, lease evaluation, financing, and due diligence exercises.
  • Prepare management reports, dashboards, KPIs, and financial performance presentations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop finance team members to ensure high performance and professional growth.
  • Support ERP implementation, automation initiatives, and continuous process improvement projects.
  • Ensure confidentiality, integrity, and security of financial information.

Minimum Requirements

  • ACCA qualified (membership completed) – mandatory.
  • CA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional qualification will be considered an advantage.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in Accounts & Finance.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in the aviation, airline, airport, aircraft leasing, or aviation services sector.
  • Strong knowledge of airline accounting, revenue accounting, lease accounting, budgeting, treasury management, and financial reporting.
  • Sound understanding of IFRS and aviation industry financial practices.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical, leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced airline environment and meet strict reporting deadlines.
