The Head of Business is responsible for leading the overall strategic and operational functions of the organization, ensuring sustainable growth, profitability, and alignment with corporate objectives. This role oversees business planning, operations, and performance management across departments, fostering efficiency, innovation, and high standards of service delivery.
The position demands strong leadership, commercial acumen, and the ability to translate organizational goals into actionable strategies. The Head of Business acts as a key decision-maker, driving initiatives that enhance productivity, strengthen market presence, and ensure customer satisfaction while maintaining compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve revenue and growth targets.
- Conduct market analysis and identify new business opportunities within the logistics industry.
- Collaborate with senior management to align sales goals with overall company objectives.
- Team Leadership:
- Recruit, train, and manage a talented sales team.
- Set clear performance expectations, provide coaching and mentorship, and conduct regular performance reviews.
- Foster a collaborative and results-driven culture within the sales team.
- Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and strategic partners.
- Understand client needs and collaborate with internal teams to tailor logistics solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Act as the primary point of contact for key accounts, addressing concerns and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Sales Execution:
- Lead the sales team in prospecting, lead generation, and client acquisition.
- Oversee the development of sales proposals, presentations, and contracts.
- Ensure accurate and timely sales forecasting and reporting.
- Market Intelligence:
- Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive landscapes, and regulatory changes.
- Use market intelligence to adapt sales strategies and identify areas for business development.
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
- Work with operations, finance, and other departments to ensure seamless service delivery & CS.
- Collaborate with marketing to develop effective sales collateral and promotional materials.
- Budget Management:
- Develop and manage the sales budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and a positive return on investment.
- Monitor and analyse sales performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
8. Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Logistics, or a related field. MBA is a plus.
- Proven experience in sales leadership within the logistics industry like FF, Contract logistics, Sea, Land and Air Freight, Customs clearance, NVOCC and warehousing.
- Strong understanding of supply chain management and logistics solutions.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a sales team to achieve targets.
- Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset.
- Proficient in using CRM systems and other sales tools.
9. General Office Administration and Business Operations
- Manage general office operations including scheduling, correspondence, filing, and documentation.
- Coordinate with internal departments to support operational and administrative requirements.
- Handle procurement of office supplies, equipment maintenance, and vendor management.
- Oversee facility management including housekeeping, security, and office maintenance.
- Support HR and finance teams with administrative assistance, such as payroll data collection, onboarding, and expense reporting.
10. Properties in Premises Management
- Oversee maintenance, repair, and renovation activities across facilities.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Manage property-related budgets, including maintenance costs, lease agreements, and utility expenses.
- Maintain records of property documents, service contracts, and maintenance logs.
- Plan and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and cost.
- Support space planning, office relocations, and asset management.
