The role holder will partner with all the Lines of Businesses and Functions to ensure delivery of risk based, strategic outcomes, including informing and advising the Bank’s Senior Management on risk and control issues, initiatives and updates that impact the respective departments, supporting the Bank in managing the risk profile and designing strong sustainable controls.
You will be a key leader within the CRO Function. The purpose of the function is to enable colleagues across the enterprise to deliver safe and secure services to all our customers, colleagues and the Bank itself.
In this role, you will:

Enforce robust risk governance and ensuring all stakeholders have visibility of key risks and any remediation activity.

Partner and advise on setting, communicating and monitoring risk appetite in line with business requirements, including appropriate support and challenge.

Conduct high quality and efficient reviews of our control performance.

Facilitate controls remediation where required.

Raise awareness and understanding of risks, controls and risk management.
-
Continuously improve the control and monitoring of risk, including behaviors.

Embed the bank’s Risk Management Framework

Responsible for defining Control Standards, Procedures and other Control artefacts
-
Develop and implement a standardized testing methodology
-
Produce reports and insights for material risk and controls
-
Facilitate Bank-wide Read-across approach
Role holders will carry out activities that will include most of the following:

Promote accountable risk and control decision-making based on quality data and commercial analysis

Provide specialist risk and control knowledge and insights
-
Identify trends to anticipate future developments in the risk and control environment

Actively challenge poor, inefficient or excessive controls, related tasks and behaviors

Drive the development and implementation of future-fit risk management frameworks
-
Influence and shape the development of regulatory frameworks in collaboration with internal parties
-
Promoting desired behaviors and a positive risk culture
-
Managing and shaping a team of professionals across the Bank with increasing effectiveness with a high level of discretion

Acting as escalation point for complex issues

Delivery of Priorities and strategy for Head of Controls Oversight Programme
To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:
Knowledge
-
Expertise in Risk Management methodology, including MI & Reporting, Utility management, Technology, Operations, Third party and supplier management, Culture and Capability; Governance and Oversight; Resolution Planning; Billing & Recharges; People and Culture; Chief of Staff services
-
Ability to develop trusted adviser status with key Executive stakeholders through SME expertise, industry experience and track record; ability to understand desired Business outcomes across the matrix and ability to translate in to well communicated and clearly articulated strategies

Prior experience of working in a global matrixed organization is desirable

Knowledge and understanding of SAB is desirable
Strategy Definition:

Drive and own strategy to enable high performance across the following components: Governance & Oversight, Appropriate Risk Reporting, Issue Management etc.

Drive a Business Partnering approach to ensure a close understanding of individual business requirements and providing customized strategies that align to overall SAB Bank’s objectives and actively support individual and business specific needs on an end-to-end basis
Execution:
-
Deliver end-to-end delivery of Controls Oversight Office services to stakeholders in accordance with agreed service catalogue & SLAs and which enhance Controls Oversight department reputation across SAB

Deliver services in accordance with regulatory and internal governance requirements.

Collaborate across the Bank in identifying and delivering opportunities to continually transform, reduce complexity and duplication
-
Ensure regular updates and feed into FLOD Governance Committees and appropriate SLOD Governance Committee’s to review of all key risk and control metrics
Risk Management and Controls:
-
The role holder will continually reassess operational risks and likelihood of operational risk occurring. This will be achieved by reviewing risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and impact of new processes.

The role holder addresses any areas of concern in conjunction with line management and/or the appropriate department.
Customers and Stakeholders:

External Stakeholders:
Support engagement with regulators to understand current and future regulatory requirements related to SAB

Internal Stakeholders:

Engage with stakeholders across the enterprise to ensure their Controls Oversight Department Services needs are met
-
Manage internal customer experience, analyzing root causes of dissatisfaction and/or SLA breaches, and putting in place actions to address these

Be the SME on all aspects of Controls Oversight Department service provision
Qualifications and Accreditations
-
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Master’s degree is preferred
-
Good working knowledge of functional area in an operational or consulting capacity
-
Demonstrated ability to work within and drive large-scale programmatic change in large organizations
