Head of Data Governance and Management

One of the largest commercial Bank Limited is seeking an experienced Head of Data Governance and Management to lead and oversee the data management strategy across the organization. This senior leadership position requires proven expertise in Big Data technologies and a deep understanding of data governance frameworks within the Banking or Financial Services sector. The role involves managing a team of professionals responsible for the implementation and continuous improvement of data policies, standards, and best practices to ensure high-quality, secure, and compliant data assets that support business objectives. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in Data Management, IT, or Analytics, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity. This role demands strong strategic thinking, excellent communication skills, and the ability to drive cross-functional collaboration among technical teams and business stakeholders. Leading the data governance initiatives, the Head of Data Governance and Management will ensure the organization leverages data as a key asset while meeting regulatory requirements and enhancing operational effectiveness.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance framework that aligns with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
• Lead and manage a team of data management professionals, providing mentorship, direction, and support to drive high performance.
• Establish data standards, policies, and procedures that promote data accuracy, security, privacy, and accessibility throughout the bank.
• Oversee the development and maintenance of data quality metrics, ensuring continuous monitoring and remediation of data issues.
• Collaborate with IT, analytics, compliance, and business units to ensure consistent data definitions and effective data integration across platforms.
• Advise the senior leadership team on data governance best practices, emerging trends, and technological advancements in big data management.
• Coordinate data-related risk assessments and ensure compliance with financial industry regulations and internal policies.
• Drive the adoption of innovative Big Data technologies and tools to enhance data processing, management, and analytics capabilities.
• Manage data lifecycle processes including data acquisition, storage, usage, sharing, and archiving, ensuring data integrity and security.
• Develop training programs and communications to promote data governance awareness and cultivate a data-driven culture within the organization.
• Monitor and report on the effectiveness of data governance initiatives, making recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Facilitate cross-functional committees and working groups focused on data management challenges and solutions.
