Head of Legal

Istanbul, Turkey

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Head of Legal to lead our company’s legal department in Türkiye. The successful candidate will oversee all legal corporate affairs, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations while providing expert legal advice to senior leadership. This role involves managing legal risks, drafting and negotiating key agreements, and supporting business initiatives through sound legal counsel. The Head of Legal will also build strong collaborative relationships across departments and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements such as those set by the Capital Markets Board (CMB).


Responsibilities:


  • Lead all legal corporate affairs within the organization, setting strategic direction for legal activities and ensuring effective execution.
  • Oversee and implement key legal processes, including legal drafting, negotiations, and commercial settlement agreements.
  • Manage legal risk across the business, providing expert legal advice and proactive solutions to senior leadership on all matters of law.
  • Identify complex legal issues internally and work towards resolution without routinely engaging external legal services.
  • Ensure reliable and timely execution of the company’s daily legal operations, safeguarding organizational interests.
  • Build and sustain collaborative relationships with heads of other departments to align legal strategies and facilitate cross-functional teamwork.
  • Ensure full compliance with regulations set by the Capital Markets Board (CMB) and other relevant regulatory bodies.


Requirements:


  • Outstanding skills in legal negotiation, consistently achieving positive outcomes in complex scenarios.
  • Strongly result-oriented and service-driven, with proven problem-solving abilities and the flexibility to adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior leadership, driving alignment towards unified business objectives.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building credibility with internal stakeholders and external parties.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) required; advanced degree or legal certifications a plus.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in corporate legal practice, including significant experience in leading legal teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate law, capital markets regulations, and risk management.
