rapidly growing technology partner at the forefront of artificial intelligence innovation, in its search for a Head of Legal. The person in this role can be fully remote anywhere in the U.S.

The Opportunity
As Head of Legal, you will serve as the principal legal advisor to the executive leadership team and the board of directors. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for building and scaling the legal function over time, ensuring compliance, and enabling innovation in a fast-paced, global environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Legal Strategy & Risk Management: Develop and implement legal strategies aligned with business objectives; advise on risks related to strategic initiatives, partnerships, and investments.
  • Corporate Governance & Compliance: Oversee governance processes, regulatory compliance (including GDPR, CCPA), and ethical AI frameworks.
  • Commercial & Contractual Matters: Draft and negotiate SaaS, licensing, data processing, and partnership agreements; implement scalable contract management systems.
  • Intellectual Property: Manage global IP portfolio and strategies to protect proprietary AI technologies and software assets.
  • Regulatory & Data Privacy: Monitor evolving global regulations on AI, privacy, and cybersecurity; implement privacy-by-design practices.
  • Disputes & Litigation: Manage litigation strategy and external counsel relationships; develop crisis response plans.
  • Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing legal team; foster a collaborative, business-oriented legal culture.

Ideal Candidate Profile
  • J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school
  • 10+ years of legal experience, including significant in-house experience with SAAS companies
  • Expertise in commercial contracts, privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA), partnership agreements, IP, and corporate law.
  • Familiarity with AI governance frameworks and emerging tech regulations.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.

Compensation: $250,000.00 -275,000.00 base + 15% target bonus + equity. Offers a comprehensive benefits package, paid time off, annual bonus(es), 401K, healthcare
