Head of Market Making

We are seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Head of Market Making to join an Asset management client of ours. This is to build and lead a new market-making and liquidity provision desk within their Brokerage division. This is a senior leadership role combining strategic vision with hands-on execution, offering the opportunity to shape a high-impact function from the ground up.

Based in Muscat, the role will initially focus on the Muscat Stock Exchange (MSX), with a clear mandate to expand into broader GCC markets.

Key Responsibilities

1. Desk Setup & Infrastructure

• Lead the end-to-end establishment of a market-making desk, including operating model, governance, and workflows
• Oversee the selection and implementation of low-latency trading systems, algorithmic execution platforms, and real-time risk monitoring tools
• Ensure robust infrastructure to support scalable and compliant trading operations

2. Execution & Quantitative Strategy

• Design and continuously enhance automated market-making and quoting strategies
• Manage inventory, optimize pricing, and ensure consistent liquidity provision across assigned securities
• Maintain competitive bid-ask spreads and depth in line with exchange requirements

3. Revenue Generation & Growth

• Drive profitability through disciplined spread capture and proprietary positioning within defined risk parameters
• Take full ownership of desk P&L, capital allocation, and performance optimization
• Develop and execute a roadmap to expand into UAE, Saudi Arabia, and wider GCC markets

Candidate Profile

Experience

• 10–15+ years of experience in financial markets, with a strong track record in equities market making
• Demonstrated experience building or scaling trading desks or similar high-performance environments
• Deep understanding of GCC markets, particularly the MSX and regional exchange dynamics

Education & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline
• Relevant professional certifications are highly desirable
