Key ResponsibilitiesAcademic Leadership
- Lead, manage, and develop the Mathematics Department across all relevant grade levels.
- Establish and communicate clear departmental goals aligned with the school's vision and strategic objectives.
- Promote excellence in teaching, learning, and assessment practices within the department.
- Support the implementation of curriculum standards and educational initiatives.
Curriculum Planning and Development
- Oversee the planning, implementation, and review of the Mathematics curriculum.
- Ensure curriculum alignment with relevant educational frameworks, examination boards, and school requirements.
- Lead curriculum innovation and the integration of effective teaching methodologies.
- Monitor curriculum delivery to ensure consistency and progression across year groups.
Teaching and Learning
- Model outstanding classroom practice and maintain a teaching timetable as required.
- Observe lessons and provide constructive feedback and coaching to department staff.
- Promote the effective use of technology and data-driven instruction in Mathematics teaching.
- Ensure differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
Staff Management and Development
- Support the recruitment, induction, and retention of Mathematics teachers.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide professional development opportunities.
- Mentor and coach teachers to enhance instructional effectiveness.
- Facilitate departmental meetings and collaborative planning sessions.
Student Achievement and Assessment
- Monitor student progress and achievement through data analysis and assessment outcomes.
- Develop and implement intervention strategies to support student success.
- Ensure assessments are administered, moderated, and reported accurately and consistently.
- Analyze examination results and identify areas for improvement.
Quality Assurance
- Monitor teaching standards and ensure compliance with school policies and curriculum requirements.
- Lead departmental self-evaluation and contribute to school improvement planning.
- Prepare departmental reports and documentation as required.
- Support internal and external inspections, accreditation processes, and quality assurance reviews.
Parent and Community Engagement
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and departmental initiatives.
- Support parent meetings, curriculum workshops, and school events.
- Promote positive relationships between the department, students, parents, and the wider school community.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Manage departmental resources, budgets, and teaching materials efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, assessments, and departmental activities.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies.
