Head of Money Market

A prominent financial institution in Qatar is seeking a seasoned treasury professional to lead its Money Markets section. This strategic role is responsible for managing daily operations, optimizing liquidity, and delivering competitive market solutions in alignment with internal policies and regulatory guidelines. The successful candidate will oversee a team of dealers and collaborate with key stakeholders to support institutional funding, investment decisions, and balance sheet management.

Role Overview: As Head – Money Markets, you will play a critical role in shaping the bank’s short-term investment strategy, managing interbank placements, and ensuring accurate pricing and execution of money market instruments. You will also contribute to the development of treasury KPIs, product innovation, and internal transfer pricing models, while staying ahead of market trends and regulatory changes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the Money Markets desk, ensuring efficient execution of trades and placements.
• Monitor liquidity profiles and interest rate risk across major currencies.
• Analyze market data using platforms like Bloomberg and Reuters to guide trading decisions.
• Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., Wholesale Banking, Investments, International Banking) to support institutional dealing.
• Develop and maintain the bank’s short-term investment portfolio, including Treasury Bills and Certificates of Deposit.
• Provide treasury cost of funds analysis and support ALCO reporting.
• Recommend new products and process enhancements to manage interest rate risk and client exposures.
• Supervise and mentor team members, ensuring high performance and compliance with SLAs.

Qualifications Experience & Skills Required :

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Banking, or related field; Master’s preferred.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in financial services, with leadership in money market trading.
• Deep understanding of portfolio construction, liquidity management, and central bank policy.
• Proven ability to interpret market signals and implement strategic trading decisions.
