Head of Operations (Freight Forwarding)

The role will be responsible for overseeing and managing all freight forwarding operations, including air, ocean, land, import, and export. Key responsibilities include ensuring high service levels, managing customs brokerage and domestic trucking, and leading customer service and operations teams. This executive role also involves strategic planning, developing agency networks, negotiating rates with carriers, and collaborating with sales and marketing to drive business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Operational oversight: Manage all aspects of freight forwarding operations including air, ocean and land freight for both import and export.
• Strategic management: Work with the head of Sales and Marketing to ensure a cohesive strategy and collaborate on business development.
• Team leadership: Manage and develop operational teams, including customer service, to ensure a superior customer experience.
• Process improvement: Ensure the highest level of service delivery by monitoring operations, implementing standard operating procedures, and resolving issues.
• Financial and vendor management: Negotiate rates with shipping lines and airlines, and manage agency agreements with overseas partners.
• Product management: Oversee product lines such as customs brokerage and domestic trucking to support the core freight forwarding business.

Key qualifications

• Experience: Extensive experience in freight operations, logistics, supply chain management, or related fields.
• Technical skills: Proficiency with transportation management systems (TMS) and logistics software like SAP or Oracle, along with strong skills in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools (like Power BI).
• Knowledge: Deep understanding of international shipping, regulations, and Incoterms.
• Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills are essential.
• Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical problem-solving skills are required.
