The Opportunity

We are seeking an eminent and visionary physician leader to assume the role of Chairman of the Pediatrics Department. This is a critical executive position responsible for providing strategic, clinical, and administrative leadership to one of the region's most comprehensive pediatric facilities. The ideal candidate will be a respected clinician with a proven track record of building and leading academic pediatric departments, driving clinical excellence, and fostering a culture of innovation and compassion.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Vision:

  • Develop and execute the long-term strategic vision for the Pediatrics Department, encompassing all general and sub-specialty services.
  • Provide executive oversight for all pediatric divisions, including but not limited to: Neonatology (NICU), Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU), Cardiology, Neurology, Oncology, Gastroenterology, and Adolescent Medicine.
  • Drive clinical excellence, innovation, and the adoption of evidence-based practices and new treatment modalities.

Clinical Governance & Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure the delivery of the highest quality, safe, and compassionate care to all pediatric patients and their families.
  • Establish, implement, and monitor rigorous clinical protocols and policies to meet and exceed international accreditation standards (CBAHI, JCI).
  • Champion hospital-wide quality improvement and patient safety initiatives specific to pediatric care.

Administrative & Operational Management:

  • Manage the department’s financial performance, including budgeting, revenue cycle, resource allocation, and cost control.
  • Optimize operational workflows to maximize efficiency, patient flow, and bed management in inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Oversee the capital planning and procurement of pediatric-specific medical equipment.

Academic & Professional Development:

  • Foster a robust academic environment by promoting clinical research, publications, and grant acquisition.
  • Lead the recruitment, mentoring, and performance evaluation of all pediatric medical staff, including consultants, specialists, and residents.
  • Develop and oversee accredited Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs and pediatric residency training (if applicable).

Collaboration & Representation:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Pediatrics Department and hospital executive management, other clinical departments, and external partners.
  • Represent the department in hospital-wide committees (e.g., Quality, Pharmacy, Ethics) and contribute to organizational strategic planning.
  • Ensure full compliance with all regulations set forth by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) and the Saudi Ministry of Health.

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:

  • Medical Degree (MD or MBBS) from an accredited institution.
  • American Board of Pediatrics (ABP), Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH), or equivalent Western certification is mandatory. Sub-specialty board certification is highly desirable.
  • Valid SCFHS license as a Consultant in Pediatrics (or eligibility for immediate transfer/classification).
  • Minimum of 12-15 years of post-certification experience in Pediatrics, with at least 5-7 years in a significant leadership role (e.g., Division Chief, Department Chair, or Program Director) within a large, academic children's hospital or tertiary care facility.
  • Proven track record in clinical leadership, departmental administration, financial management, and program development.
  • Demonstrable experience in teaching, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills, with a passion for family-centered care.
  • Previous leadership experience in the Middle East/GCC region.

Desirable:

  • Fellowship training in a pediatric subspecialty (e.g., Neonatology, Pediatric Cardiology, Critical Care).
  • Master's degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA) or Business Administration (MBA).
  • Experience in developing and managing pediatric residency training programs.
