Head of Platform Engineering

We are seeking an experienced Platform Engineering Manager to lead and manage our platform engineering efforts across several countries. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in platform engineering, cloud technologies, software development, and infrastructure management, with proven experience in overseeing large-scale projects and teams. This role is crucial for driving the development of capabilities, offerings, and competencies within our organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Platform Engineering discipline, growing business capabilities across multiple countries
• Support team members in their professional growth and career development
• Implement a long-term plan for the Platform Engineering unit, establishing structures, recruiting engineers, and managing staffing
• Build and maintain high-performing teams of Platform Engineers
• Drive the development and implementation of platform engineering capabilities, offerings, and reusable accelerators within the organization
• Serve as the key technical liaison for our clients, ensuring their needs are met with precision
• Design, implement, and maintain scalable and reliable platform solutions
• Design and develop robust CI/CD pipelines to ensure efficient software delivery
• Implement infrastructure as code practices using tools like Terraform and Crossplane for scalable infrastructure management
• Design and develop internal developer portals using tools like Backstage to enhance developer productivity
• Design and develop observability platforms that include monitoring, logging, and tracing to ensure system health and performance
• Design, implement, and manage scalable and reliable container platforms using technologies like Kubernetes
• Champion the use of automation for testing, deployment, and operational tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience in platform engineering, cloud technologies, software development, and infrastructure management
• Extensive knowledge of cloud computing architectures and services
• Solid understanding of the software development life cycle, monitoring, and security best practices
• Proven track record in managing production infrastructure using tools like Terraform and Crossplane
• Experience with designing and maintaining internal developer portals using tools like Backstage
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated testing
• Proficiency in container platforms and orchestration technologies
• Experience in the architecture and design of complex systems
• Understanding of current trends in AI/LLM and their impact on developer productivity
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Ability to engage with stakeholders effectively
• Excellent command of written and spoken English (B2+ level)
