Head of Private Equity roles typically involve leading investment strategies and deal execution in private equity firms or investment funds. These positions demand extensive experience in finance, deal-making, and team leadership, often tailored to the organization's focus like regional markets or sovereign funds.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the private equity investment strategy, including portfolio construction, target allocation, and alignment with long-term fund objectives.
- Originate, underwrite, evaluate, and recommend new investment opportunities; lead due diligence, negotiations, and transaction closings.
- Monitor and manage the existing portfolio, ensuring compliance with investment agreements, performance tracking, and value creation initiatives.
- Build and maintain relationships with investors, sponsors, portfolio companies, and external advisors; conduct investor outreach and reporting.
- Lead and mentor investment teams, oversee deal sourcing, and present portfolio performance to senior stakeholders and boards.
- Drive sell-side mandates (e.g., divestments, stake sales) or buy-side activities, including marketing materials like teasers and information memorandums.
Required Qualifications
- 15-25+ years of experience in private equity, investment banking, or related fields, with proven deal execution in senior roles like VP or Managing Director.
- Deep knowledge of private equity markets, financial modeling, valuation, and regulatory environments (adaptable to Oman’s focus on energy, diversification, or sovereign wealth).
- Advanced degree (MBA preferred) in finance, economics, or related; certifications like CFA beneficial.
- Strong network in PE ecosystems, leadership skills, and ability to handle complex transactions.
- Proficiency in risk analysis, portfolio management tools, and stakeholder communication.
