Head of Science (AY 26-27)

GEMS - TBS (The British School El-Rehab) are seeking an experienced Head of Science to lead and develop our Science Department. The successful candidate will provide strategic vision, lead a team of science teachers, and ensure high-quality teaching.

Important note: The position is based in Cairo, Egypt, and candidates must be willing to relocate.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and inspire the Science Department to achieve excellence
• Develop and implement a curriculum in line with the British Curriculum
• Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning across the department
• Support teachers with lesson planning, assessment, and professional development
• Promote innovative teaching strategies and the use of laboratory resources
• Ensure a safe, well-organized, and stimulating learning environment
• Prepare students for internal and external examinations (IGCSE, A-Level, or equivalent)
• Contribute to whole-school initiatives, events, and extracurricular activities

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Science or Science Education (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or related)
• Recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent)
• Minimum 4 years teaching experience in a secondary school, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
• Experience teaching IGCSE/A-Level Science preferred
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Passion for science and student development
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
• Willingness to relocate to Cairo, Egypt
