Role description:
The Head of Security is responsible for overseeing and implementing security measures to protect people, assets, and information within the Ajlan & Bros Mining (ABM) exploration and mining sites whilst ensuring that regulatory standards are not breached. This role is critical in environments where theft, trespassing, and industrial sabotage can be significant risks.
The Head of Security will lead and manage all aspects of site security to protect personnel, assets, and information from potential threats. This includes developing security policies and strategies compliant with IFC Performance Standard 4, coordinating with local law enforcement and emergency response providers, managing a team of security personnel, and ensuring compliance with all safety and security regulations. The Security Manager plays a key role in creating a safe and secure working environment for all employees and contractors within the mining site.
Key Responsibilities:
Security Planning and Strategy:

Develop, implement, and oversee the site’s security strategy and policies to prevent loss or damage.

Conduct risk assessments, evaluate potential vulnerabilities, and establish protocols to mitigate risks.
Personnel Management:

Hire, train, and supervise security staff, ensuring they are prepared to handle potential threats effectively.

Schedule shifts, monitor performance, and conduct regular training sessions on security practices and emergency procedures.
Surveillance and Monitoring:

Manage and oversee surveillance systems (CCTV, alarm systems) and access control mechanisms to monitor the site 24/7. • Regularly review footage and data logs for suspicious activity, and take appropriate action as necessary.
Incident Response and Investigation:

Respond to security incidents, breaches, and emergencies, coordinating with local law enforcement and emergency services as required.

Conduct investigations into incidents, thefts, and accidents, preparing detailed reports and corrective action plans.
Regulatory Compliance and Reporting:

Ensure all security practices comply with local, national, international and industry-specific regulations and standards.

Prepare regular security reports, audits, and documentation for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
Asset Protection:

Develop protocols to protect valuable equipment, materials, and information from theft, loss, or damage.

Oversee transportation and storage security for high-value assets within the site.
Stakeholder Coordination:

Liaise with local communities, law enforcement, and government agencies to foster good relationships and support site security efforts.

Communicate effectively with site management and other departments to align safety and security goals, particularly community relations.
Budget and Resource Management:

Prepare and manage the security department’s budget, including equipment procurement and personnel costs.

Regularly assess resource needs to ensure the site is adequately protected without exceeding budget constraints.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, or a related field (preferred).

Minimum of 7 years of experience in security management, ideally within the mining, industrial, or construction sectors.

Proven experience managing security personnel and implementing security systems in high-risk environments.

Familiarity with risk assessment, crisis management, and emergency response planning.

Strong knowledge of security protocols, surveillance systems, and access control measures.
