Last Energy is seeking a Head of Security to lead all security and safeguards functions across the company's offices, projects, and operations. This is a senior leadership role with direct CEO reporting, responsible for setting and maintaining the highest standards across physical security, cybersecurity, and material control & accounting (MC&A). The Head of Security will work closely with on-site security officers, the IT department, and external contractors to ensure robust, compliant, and scalable security programs as Last Energy grows.
Key Duties & Responsibilities

Architect and lead a comprehensive security program spanning cybersecurity, physical security, and Material Control & Accounting (MC&A) across all Last Energy facilities and corporate infrastructure

Develop and coordinate the implementation of Site Security and MC&A Plans for all Last Energy facilities, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and organizational risk tolerance

Direct the protection of operational technology (OT), industrial control systems (ICS), and corporate networks, ensuring resilience against cyber and physical threats across all environments

Oversee day-to-day security operations across Last Energy sites, ensuring compliance with DOE regulations, NRC requirements, and applicable international nuclear security standards

Serve as the primary point of contact for DOE, NRC, and other regulators on all security matters, including audits, inspections, and reporting obligations

Monitor the evolving regulatory landscape and proactively adapt the security program to meet new and emerging requirements

Source, manage, and evaluate security contractors and vendors, ensuring performance standards, contractual obligations, and security clearance requirements are met

Partner with engineering, operations, legal, and executive leadership to integrate security considerations into facility design, project planning, and business decisions

Build and mentor an internal security team, fostering a culture of security awareness and accountability across the organization

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, business, or a related field; advanced degree preferred

7+ years of progressive experience in security operations, cybersecurity, or physical security, with at least 3 years in a leadership role

Prior experience in nuclear, defense, or other highly regulated industrial environments strongly preferred

Demonstrated experience developing and implementing security programs, policies, and plans in compliance with DOE, NRC, or equivalent regulatory frameworks

Familiarity with OT/ICS/SCADA security principles and the unique challenges of securing industrial and nuclear environments

Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies, threat modeling, and security planning principles across both cyber and physical domains

Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage security contractors, and deliver complex programs on time and within budget

Excellent communication skills, with experience interfacing directly with regulators, auditors, and senior leadership
