Head of Venue Technology Delivery

Lead the successful delivery of advanced venue technology solutions across stadiums, sports venues, and large-scale international sporting events. The role is responsible for managing end-to-end technology project delivery, ensuring seamless integration of ICT, AV, and ELV systems while enhancing operational readiness and event-day experience for stakeholders, organizers, and spectators.


Key Responsibilities


  • Lead the overall delivery lifecycle of Venue Technology projects from concept initiation through planning, procurement, implementation, testing, commissioning, and operational handover.
  • Manage RFP preparation, tendering activities, vendor evaluations, contract coordination, and post-award project execution activities.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, governance artefacts, technical specifications, implementation plans, and reporting frameworks for all Venue Technology initiatives.
  • Oversee project execution in coordination with vendors, consultants, contractors, and internal project management teams.
  • Develop integrated project plans aligned with operational, engineering, and event delivery requirements across stadiums, venues, clubs, and mega-event environments.
  • Define and document functional and technical requirements for venue technology systems and infrastructure.
  • Support Venue Technology Operations teams and event organizers in defining project scope, operational expectations, and technical delivery requirements.
  • Monitor project performance, risks, issues, timelines, budgets, and quality standards to ensure successful delivery outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, regulatory requirements, cybersecurity standards, and venue operational guidelines.
  • Lead contract performance management activities to ensure vendor compliance, service quality, and client satisfaction throughout project execution and delivery phases.
  • Coordinate testing, commissioning, integration validation, operational readiness, and transition-to-operations activities.


Delivery Resource Planning & Governance


  • Manage and report on the progress of all Venue Technology projects and delivery programs.
  • Provide regular executive-level updates, dashboards, and status reports to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Lead service coordination meetings with vendors, consultants, operators, and external stakeholders.
  • Manage the activities and performance of the Venue Technology Delivery team to ensure alignment with project objectives and operational requirements.
  • Ensure all designs and implementations are compatible with venue operational standards, technology lifecycle requirements, scalability, and future expansion needs.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical direction to team members and project resources.
  • Support strategic planning initiatives related to venue technology transformation and innovation.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in Information Technology and technology project delivery.
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in a similar leadership role managing complex technology projects.
  • Minimum 4 years of mandatory experience within sports venues, stadiums, or mega sporting event environments.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or PRINCE2 Certification.


Required Skills & Competencies


  • Proven experience delivering large-scale ICT, AV, and ELV projects within stadiums, arenas, smart venues, or mega-event environments.
  • Strong expertise in SMART stadium and venue technologies, including integrated venue systems and event technology infrastructure.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and managing venue-based technology solutions for international sporting events.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, governance frameworks, and delivery best practices.
  • Ability to interpret and develop technical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and infrastructure layouts.
  • Strong vendor management, stakeholder engagement, and contract management capabilities.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities within fast-paced, high-pressure event environments.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence and delivery quality.
