Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and entrepreneurial Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Professional to establish, commission, and independently run a medicine production unit in Oman. The role involves complete responsibility from project planning and regulatory approvals to production, quality compliance, and commercial readiness.
The ideal candidate will act as a founding leader for the manufacturing unit, with strong technical, regulatory, and operational expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Project Setup & Plant Establishment
- Lead end-to-end setup of a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Oman.
- Plan factory layout, utilities, HVAC, clean rooms, and production flow as per GMP standards.
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, equipment suppliers, and utility providers.
- Oversee installation, qualification, and validation of machinery and systems.
Regulatory & Compliance
- Manage regulatory approvals and licensing with Oman Ministry of Health (MOH) and relevant authorities.
- Ensure compliance with Oman GMP, WHO-GMP, and international pharmaceutical standards.
- Prepare and submit documentation for site registration, product registration, and inspections.
- Handle audits, inspections, and corrective action plans.
Production & Operations
- Establish SOPs for manufacturing, packaging, storage, and distribution.
- Plan and manage production schedules to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets.
- Ensure efficient use of manpower, materials, and equipment.
- Monitor yields, deviations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Quality Assurance & Quality Control
- Set up and manage QA/QC departments.
- Implement quality management systems including documentation control, change management, deviation handling, and CAPA.
- Ensure batch release, stability studies, and product lifecycle compliance.
- Maintain strict adherence to data integrity and quality standards.
Supply Chain & Vendor Management
- Identify and approve raw material, API, and packaging suppliers.
- Negotiate procurement contracts and ensure reliable supply chains.
- Manage inventory, warehousing, and expiry control.
Commercial & Business Support
- Support management in product selection, costing, and pricing strategies.
- Coordinate with marketing and distribution teams for product launches.
- Ensure cost-efficient operations and profitability of the manufacturing unit.
Team Building & Leadership
- Recruit, train, and manage production, QA, QC, engineering, and support staff.
- Build a strong GMP-compliant culture across the organization.
- Conduct performance reviews and continuous training programs.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
- Deep understanding of GMP, regulatory compliance, and audits.
- Proven project management and plant setup experience.
- Leadership ability to run operations independently.
- Strong documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to liaise with regulators, consultants, and international partners.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or Chemical Engineering.
- 10–20 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Proven experience in setting up a new pharma plant (greenfield or brownfield).
- Prior experience in GCC / Middle East regulatory environment is a strong advantage.
- Experience with WHO-GMP / MOH audits preferred.
