Product Technology and Engineering (PT&E) is part of the R&D organization and is a function composed by chemists, scientists and engineers that are responsible to create the customers physical experience of every Syngenta Crop Protection product. For that, PT&E is organized in different sub-functions such as Formulation Development, Analytical Development, Formulation and Packaging Engineering and Application Technology.
Job Description
Purpose:
-
To lead the Product Technology & Engineering resources in AMEA all of the 5 technical PT&E functions including Goa India PT&E technology center, Application Technology center in Cikampek and formulation engineering in the County Units to support the business in AMEA and JANZ.

Work with AMEA CP R&D,P&S and Business Leaders to ensure that the commercial teams are fully supported with an exciting and applicable product pipeline.

Working with the global PTE, agree the technical, infrastructure and people strategy for the technology center.

With AMEA focus, develop and promote effective technical teams that will provide innovative and scalable processes and solutions that will meet internal and external customer needs.

Drive a culture of continuous improvement (in collaboration with other PT&E leaders) to ensure we maintain efficient and effective product technology capabilities.

Establish strong technical and people leadership, delivering ongoing regional and global excellence through recruitment, coaching and developing succession plans for the center.
Key Accountability:
-
Lead the PT&E LT in the region to ensure that the PT&E team have a clear strategy with respect to role the site plays in the global PT&E organization and that we develop the required capability and capacity to support current and future ambitions.

Direct oversight of Goa site's PT&E operations ensure HSE, compliance, etc. including formal director role at SBPL
-
Drive continuous improvement programs to ensure site technical excellence and operational efficiency

Responsible and disciplined approach to budget, resource planning to manage site engineering projects and capital investments, support site expansion projects and drive digital transformation initiatives

Enable agility and responsiveness by developing people and organization that can respond to emerging needs and changes at Syngenta, especially at our major interfaces.

Establish and foster positive environments for science, innovation and product development.

Balance strategic, tactical projects and initiatives cooperatively and objectively with AMEA leader to support AMEA business.

Partner with CPDMT teams for new product development and scale-up, manage regional project portfolio and resource allocation.

Collaborate with P&S leadership on manufacturing strategy, support 3rd party sourcing decisions with technical expertise, optimize production costs through technical improvement and ensure robust technical transfer to contract manufacturers

Qualifications
Education / Experience / Qualifications:
-
10+ years experience in a significant leadership or technical position in Product Technology and Engineering and / or relevant business management functions
-
University degree in a relevant technical field with significant technical and leadership experience in the chemical industry
-
Deep understanding of industrial product development, processes and concepts, including the innovation, product development and technology transfer
-
Understanding of the key technical requirements, skills and capabilities for PT&E engineering, including formulation, packaging and application engineering.

Significant experience in project management across functions, geographies and cultures
-
Proven leadership skills in groups of 20+ people
-
Ability to communicate and lead a multi-functional team with credibility and empathy, maintaining a balance between local needs and issues while remaining connected to broader regional or global developments
Additional Requirements:
-
The role will require 40% time for domestic and international travel, but will require strong focus and leadership presence for the “local” teams.

This enhanced role requires a leader who can balance technical excellence with business acumen, while effectively managing multiple stakeholders across different functions and geographies. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong strategic thinking, innovation leadership, and the ability to drive business value through technical expertise
