Head Software Quality Assurance

Job Purpose


The role holder is responsible for ensuring quality of software assets of the organization including its delivery processes are performed consistently using the same methodology, information, skills, and controls. Moreover, responsible for developing the standards for IT application QA and implementation of quality assurance practices to monitor every phase of the application life cycle to ensure that the design and software adhere to Group standards. The role acts as single point of contact to oversee QA and guide testing efforts for all programs (Core Banking, Corporate Digital Platform and all other programs that impact core banking) across external vendors and internal stakeholders; facilitating communication between teams, ensuring visibility, traceability, and control of testing processes.


Key Responsibilities


Software QA Governance

  • Formulate a Group-wide software QA practice and testing strategy to ensure alignment with the Group’s strategic IT objectives.
  • Standardize the management approach to testing; including the tools and reporting frameworks to ensure effective communication with different management levels across the Group e.g. Project level, Steerco or C-level.
  • Develop testing processes to ensure the appropriate level of governance is applied to different programs and projects undertaken by the bank.
  • Develop a clear and methodical approach to impact analysis to ensure stakeholder understanding of the requirement for the software.
  • Coordinate with project managers, development managers, and external vendors etc. to ensure the highest level of software quality.
  • Identify appropriate test measurement metrics to monitor and review the quality of vendors reporting of progress and status evaluations in order to adapt test plans when necessary and coordinate changes with the testing teams.
  • Escalate risks and issues about project requirements in a timely manner to ensure senior management are informed and able to take action to mitigate or accept the level of any risks that are identified.


Group-wide Testing Coordination

  • Develop group-wide end to end testing plan.
  • Act as the single point of contact to oversee and guide testing efforts in all the programs (Core Banking, Corporate Digital Platform and others impacting core banking) across external vendors and internal stakeholders and facilitate communication between teams, ensuring visibility, traceability, and control of testing process.
  • Identify the dependencies between the Core Banking and peripheral Platforms and build into test strategies with analysis of impact on each other.
  • Ensure visibility, traceability, and control of the testing process to deliver high-quality software.
  • Manage the coordination of different test phases and support defect management process
  • Define and coordinate corrective and improvement actions.
  • Resource planning, management, and optimization to ensure group-wide testing initiatives are properly resourced to achieve the set objectives.
  • Prepare and present group-wide testing reports.


Software Quality Assurance

  • Review business/software requirements and provide inputs on the overall QA and testing approach set for the project.
  • Ensure proper definition of the scope of testing within the context of each project/release/delivery.
  • Ensure that the required test environments and systems are set up and verified before test execution and manage the planned scheduling of systems during the test execution.
  • Ensure right resources are deployed for testing initiatives track of the new requirements/change in requirements of the Project, impacting the testing plan.
  • Ensure different projects are adhering to the set development and implementation QA standards.
  • Monitor the performance of different testing initiatives at strategic and tactical levels.
  • Analyze projects test results and test metrics, and review/QA different projects’ testing reports.


Qualifications & Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, related field is required.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Professional qualification in related subjects to Technology or ISTQB Software Testing certification are preferred.
  • Minimum 5-6 years of practical experience in a bank with 3 years in the same or similar function.
