Job Summary:
The Head Waiter/ Waitress is responsible for supervising the dining room operations and ensuring that guests receive exceptional service. This role includes overseeing waitstaff, managing reservations, and addressing guest concerns. The Head Waiter plays a key role in maintaining high service standards, training staff, and ensuring the smooth operation of the dining area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision of Waitstaff:
- Oversee the daily activities of waitstaff, ensuring that they are performing their duties efficiently and to a high standard.
- Provide guidance and support to waiters and waitresses, helping them with any issues or challenges that arise during service.
- Delegate tasks and manage the floor during service to ensure smooth operations.
- Guest Service:
- Greet guests warmly and ensure they are seated promptly.
- Monitor the dining area to ensure guests are receiving prompt and courteous service.
- Address any guest concerns or complaints in a professional and effective manner, striving to resolve issues quickly and to the guest's satisfaction.
- Order Management:
- Ensure that orders are taken accurately and delivered to the kitchen promptly.
- Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure that food is prepared and served according to the restaurant’s standards.
- Quality Control:
- Inspect the dining area to ensure it is clean, well-organized, and properly set up before service begins.
- Monitor food presentation and service to ensure consistency and quality.
- Ensure that all health and safety regulations are adhered to, including food hygiene and sanitation standards.
- Reservation and Table Management:
- Manage and organize table reservations to maximize seating efficiency while ensuring guest comfort.
- Coordinate with the Restaurant Manager to plan for large groups, special occasions, and events.
- Billing and Financial Transactions:
- Assist with billing and ensure that transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.
- Handle cash, credit card payments, and tips responsibly, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded correctly.
- Collaboration with Management:
- Work closely with the Restaurant Manager to identify areas for improvement in service and operations.
- Provide feedback and suggestions to enhance the overall dining experience for guests.
- Assist with inventory management, including monitoring stock levels and ordering supplies as needed.
