Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Engineer to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations across our construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring HSE policies, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring a safe working environment in line with UAE laws and international safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and enforce Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies on construction sites.
  • Conduct risk assessments, hazard identification, and accident investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with UAE Labour Law, municipality regulations, and international HSE standards (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH, ISO 45001).
  • Monitor site activities and conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and toolbox talks.
  • Review method statements, risk assessments, and work permits for safety compliance.
  • Train and raise awareness among employees, workers, and subcontractors on safety practices.
  • Maintain and update HSE records, incident reports, and safety performance indicators.
  • Liaise with consultants, contractors, and government authorities regarding safety requirements.
  • Implement emergency response procedures and ensure proper availability of PPE, fire protection, and first-aid measures.
  • Report unsafe practices and recommend corrective/preventive actions to management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial) with specialization in HSE.
  • NEBOSH/IOSH/OSHA certification or equivalent HSE qualification is mandatory.
  • Minimum 4–6 years of experience as an HSE Engineer, preferably in construction projects in the UAE/GCC.
  • Strong knowledge of UAE health & safety laws, building codes, and municipality regulations.
  • Proficiency in safety management systems, risk assessments, and accident investigation.
  • Excellent communication and training skills to deal with workers of diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
