Job Purpose:
The Health & Safety Engineer is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving health and safety standards to ensure a safe working environment, full regulatory compliance, and effective risk mitigation across all projects and operations.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and maintain Health & Safety policies, procedures, and standards in line with local regulations and international best practices (ISO 45001).

Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.

Ensure compliance with all relevant HSE laws, regulations, and authority requirements.

Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses; prepare detailed reports and root cause analyses with preventive recommendations.

Monitor contractor and subcontractor HSE compliance and enforce safety requirements on-site.

Deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks, and safety training programs to employees and contractors.

Review method statements, risk assessments, and permit-to-work systems.

Track and report HSE KPIs, statistics, and performance dashboards to management.

Support emergency preparedness planning, drills, and response procedures.

Promote a strong safety culture and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.

Minimum of
6 years of experience
in Health & Safety roles, preferably within construction, infrastructure, or large-scale projects.

Professional HSE certifications such as
NEBOSH, IOSH, or OSHA
are highly preferred.

Strong knowledge of local HSE regulations and international standards (ISO 45001).

Proven experience in site-based HSE management and contractor oversight.
