The Health Data Advisor supports Cigna’s Quality Management initiatives by leading data-driven projects that inform clinical and operational improvements. This role is instrumental in ensuring compliance with external accreditation and regulatory requirements through advanced data analysis and reporting. As Cigna transitions from traditional HEDIS measurement to digital quality measurement, the advisor will play a key role in adapting methodologies, tools, and strategies to align with evolving standards and technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Technical Guidance
Lead time-bound projects and components of larger initiatives.
Provide technical direction to quality staff on system requirements and data solutions.
HEDIS & Clinical Data Analysis
Manage HEDIS data collection, reporting, and analysis for assigned regions/projects.
Analyze clinical initiative outcomes to identify improvement opportunities across various populations (clients, CACs, commercial markets, IFP).
Perform statistical and qualitative analysis using claims, pharmacy, lab, and demographic data.
Support the transition to digital quality measurement by adapting data workflows, tools, and reporting strategies.
Measurement & Reporting
Define measurement strategies and develop scorecards and reports to support:
External accreditation
Population health improvement
Regulatory compliance
Performance monitoring
Process Improvement & Efficiency
Identify opportunities to enhance analytical efficiency and reduce costs.
Develop and maintain tools for tracking and forecasting HEDIS performance.
Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with internal matrix teams and external partners to drive personalization and localization efforts.
Interface with state immunization registries and other external entities for data submissions.
Documentation & Training
Document data methodologies and train analysts for cross-coverage.
Maintain the Quality SharePoint site and ensure data integrity across all reporting.
Research & Strategic Recommendations
Conduct literature reviews and barrier analyses.
Present findings and recommendations to leadership.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree highly preferred; equivalent experience considered.
5+ years of experience in managed care or healthcare analytics.
Prior HEDIS experience strongly preferred.
Proficiency in data processing tools (Access, Excel); experience with SQL coding and/or equivalent querying tools a plus.
Tableau reporting experience is a plus.
Strong understanding of technical processes and project specifications.
Proven ability to analyze large datasets across multiple environments.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Demonstrated customer-centric mindset and problem-solving capabilities.
Ability to minimally travel as required.
