Health Information Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Health Information Specialist to join our team. This role is essential in managing and safeguarding patient health information, using computer software to comply with federal mandates for electronic storage of patient information. The HIM Specialist will also be responsible to monitor the release of information, record processing, physician's documentation, and scanning. The ideal candidate will possess proven knowledge of Release of Information (ROI). (Onsite Position-Not Remote)

Responsibilities

• Retrieves daily discharge charts from units and reconciles according to discharge report.
• Assembles charts according to discharge orders.
• Analyzes charts for completeness according to the established criteria.
• Records deficiencies according to procedures for incomplete chart files.
• Records information for chart reviews in excel as indicated in procedure.
• Pulls charts on request.
• Ensures compliance with professional, state and federal regulatory requirements.
• Reports HIPPA, Confidentiality and Privacy violations as per facility guidelines.
• Understanding of the HIM Department according to facility guidelines and Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations.

Experience

• Must be proficient in release of information (ROI) in compliance with HIPPA.
• Data Analysis for record reviewing, accuracy and completeness.
• Demonstrated experience conducting compliance audits to ensure adherence to healthcare regulations and patient safety standards.
