Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Public Health Officer to lead the implementation, coordination, and monitoring of integrated public health programs, with a strong focus on mental health services, across designated clinic sites in Karachi. This role involves close collaboration with healthcare providers, field teams, and community stakeholders to ensure high-quality service delivery and data-driven program improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and scale-up of integrated public health interventions, with a primary focus on mental health programs, across assigned clinic sites.
- Provide technical and operational support to lay counsellors, psychologists, and healthcare staff to ensure adherence to protocols and quality standards.
- Coordinate training, refresher sessions, and ongoing capacity-building initiatives for public health and mental health personnel.
- Oversee patient screening and referral processes, ensuring timely and effective care pathways within clinics and the broader health system.
- Supervise and support accurate data collection, entry, and analysis, contributing to robust monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of program outcomes.
- Collaborate with the M&E team to ensure program indicators and reporting requirements are met effectively and on time.
- Facilitate public health awareness and education initiatives, including the development and management of informational content for clinic-based communication platforms (e.g., TV screens).
- Conduct routine field visits to clinics for quality assurance, operational support, and mentorship of field teams.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clinic staff, local communities, and partner organizations to ensure effective program delivery.
- Contribute to program reporting, documentation, and knowledge sharing for internal learning and external dissemination.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, or a related field (preferably with a mental health focus).
- Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in public health program management, preferably in low-resource or marginalised communities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders including government bodies, NGOs, and local communities.
- Fluency in English and Urdu (both written and spoken).
- Willingness to travel frequently within Karachi to oversee program implementation at clinic sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience implementing task-shifting models or working with lay health workers in a primary care context.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise field teams, manage multi-component programs, and troubleshoot operational challenges.
- Familiarity with M&E frameworks, digital data collection tools, and analysis methods.
- Background in both direct service provision (e.g., counselling, health education) and program oversight.
- Prior experience working within or in coordination with primary health care systems.
