Health Services Security Administrative Officer

Job Summary:
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Provides administrative, technical, and armed security support by maintaining officer records, coordinating security technology needs, and performing armed security functions to ensure safe and efficient departmental operations.
Job Duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintains officer credentials, competency files, certifications, and renewal documentation; tracks
  • compliance requirements and coordinates mandatory trainings and deadlines.
  • Compiles, organizes, and maintains departmental records, logs, reports, audits, and administrative files in
  • accordance with organizational standards.
  • Prepares reports and summaries related to security operations, system audits, investigations, and
  • departmental activities.
  • Assists with administrative projects and supports planning, development, and process‑improvement
  • initiatives.
  • Oversees security technology systems by conducting camera audits, retrieving and reviewing footage,
  • coordinating camera and access‑control repairs with IT and vendors, and managing user access,
  • permissions, and troubleshooting.
  • Performs armed security duties including responding to calls, monitoring CCTV and alarms, securing areas,
  • assisting with communication, and supporting emergency and disaster operations.
  • Assists with opening secure areas and supports access‑related requests.
  • Observes activity, reports concerns, and supports officers during incidents to maintain a secure environment.
  • Coordinates with law enforcement, fire, EMS, and emergency management during emergencies or drills.
  • Assists with disaster training and emergency preparedness activities for Health Services staff.
  • Maintains knowledge of laws and departmental policies relevant to facility security operations.
  • Ensures security equipment is maintained and reports deficiencies for repair.
  • Assists with scene control and documentation during incidents, investigations, or facility disruptions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY
  • Performs work under general supervision.
  • Handles moderately complex issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Possesses solid working knowledge of subject matter.

Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • An additional two (2) years of experience in a related field required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
  • Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within ninety (90) days of hire and maintain throughout employment.
  • Must obtain the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) certification for armed security within ninety (90) days of hire and maintain throughout employment.
  • Must obtain a Commission Card from Cherokee Nation Marshall Services for authorization to carry a firearm on Cherokee Nation property.
  • Must complete required continuing education and annual Defensive Tactics and Taser recertification; Security training completed through the U.S. Armed Forces may be accepted.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
  • Must meet and maintain periodic background adjudication for law enforcement.
  • Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for childcare.
