Heavy Construction Equipment Mechanic

Your expertise will ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably, supporting the successful completion of major infrastructure developments. Duties

  • Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on heavy construction equipment such as excavators, cranes, bulldozers, and loaders using OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) manuals and schematics.
  • Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, hydraulic system checks, brake repairs, transmission servicing, and air brake system inspections. Daily maintenance including greasing and checks for any issues.
  • Fabricate custom parts or modifications using power tools, welding equipment, and hand tools to ensure optimal machine performance.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, hydraulics, suspension components, HVAC systems, and engine issues on diesel-powered machinery.
  • Inspect equipment for safety compliance by performing alignment checks, tire service, wheel balancing, and suspension assessments.
  • Assist in heavy lifting operations when necessary to remove or install large components or machinery parts.
  • Maintain detailed service records and logs of repairs performed; read schematics and technical manuals for accurate troubleshooting.

Qualifications

  • Proven mechanic experience with heavy construction equipment or industrial machinery; dealership experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, and HVAC components.
  • Skilled in using diagnostic tools such as automotive diagnostics software and reading schematics for troubleshooting complex issues.
  • Proficient with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment (soldering included), and fabrication techniques.
  • Experience working with OEM parts for Caterpillar, or similar brands.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during repairs or maintenance tasks.
  • Valid certifications in vehicle maintenance or heavy equipment operation are desirable; relevant licenses such as forklift certification are beneficial.   • Wages are based on experience and performance.

Pay: $28.00 - $40.00 per hour
