Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Construction Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy machinery and equipment. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The Heavy Construction Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment operates efficiently and safely.
Duties
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues in heavy construction equipment, including excavators, cranes, and forklifts.
- Perform routine maintenance on various types of machinery, ensuring compliance with OEM specifications.
- Utilize schematics to troubleshoot electrical systems and hydraulic components.
- Conduct fabrication tasks as needed to modify or enhance equipment functionality.
- Repair transmissions, air brakes, alignment systems, and suspension components.
- Execute diesel engine repairs and perform brake repairs on heavy vehicles.
- Operate heavy equipment to test repairs and ensure proper functionality post-service.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used for inventory management.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs and maintenance needs.
Skills
- Proven mechanic experience with heavy construction equipment and industrial machinery.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Familiarity with automotive diagnostics and repair processes for various vehicles including tractor-trailers and farm machinery.
- Experience with HVAC systems is a plus.
- Proficient in welding and soldering techniques for equipment repair tasks.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required during maintenance activities.
- Strong understanding of hydraulics, electrical systems, and assembly processes related to heavy machinery.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
