Heavy Equipment Landfill Operator

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Excavator Operator to support daily operations at our landfill facility. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience loading and moving trash, maintaining landfill cells, and operating heavy equipment safely and efficiently in an active landfill environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators to load, move, and manage waste materials
• Assist with landfill cell construction, grading, and daily cover placement
• Maintain safe working conditions around trucks, compactors, and other equipment
• Perform routine equipment inspections and report mechanical issues
• Follow all safety, environmental, and operational regulations
• Work closely with site supervisors and scale house personnel
• Keep work areas clean and organized

Requirements

• Minimum [2–5] years of excavator experience, preferably in landfill or waste management operations
• Strong knowledge of safe excavation and material handling techniques
• Ability to work in all weather conditions
• Understanding of landfill safety and environmental regulations
• Reliable transportation and punctual attendance
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment
• OSHA training or safety certifications
• CDL (a plus, but not required)
