Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical background and be proficient in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy machinery and equipment. This role requires hands-on experience with diesel engines, electrical systems, and the ability to perform heavy lifting as needed. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will play a crucial role in ensuring that our equipment operates efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues in heavy equipment such as tractor trucks, trailers, and refuse equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Assemble and align components of machinery as needed.
  • Conduct electrical repairs and troubleshooting on various equipment systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and inspections performed on equipment.
  • Collaborate with team members to prioritize repairs and ensure timely completion of work orders.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3-5 years experience working on heavy equipment or heavy duty vehicles.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot moderate issues.
  • General experience in diesel engines.
  • Familiarity with electrical systems related to heavy machinery.
  • Familiarity with air brakes and basic hydraulic system.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) as required by the job.
  • Familiarity with using a welder-------not mandatory
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • CDL
  • STATE INSPECTOR'S LICENCE

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.78 - $28.76 per hour
