Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Job Description

Smith & Jennings, Inc. is a medium-sized family owned and operated business located in High Point, N.C. We specialize in grading contracting.

Summary/ Objective

Heavy Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for the repair of heavy equipment (primarily CAT equipment) including Excavators, Front Loaders, Dozer, and various other heavy equipment. This position requires 2+ years of heavy equipment mechanic experience.

Must be able to work independently without supervision.

Must be able to perform work on job sites.

Must be able to diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and perform necessary repairs.

Enter and resolve work orders in maintenance tracking software

Big truck experience is a plus. Ten (10) years or more of industry related experience is preferred for this position.

Essential Functions

Knowledge of the following:

• Excavators
• Bobcats
• Mack Trucks
• Assembly, maintenance, etc
• Servicing equipment
• Able to make phone calls to vendors for all equipment needs
• Maintains clean housekeeping on machine and jobsite.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Constant physical effort, including standing, is required during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day.

Employee regularly works on heavy equipment and machinery

Employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time, and to stoop, bend, and crouch as required to perform.

Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 50 pounds and, at times, as much as 90 pounds, as may be assigned.

Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.

Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and heavy equipment.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are 40+ hours per week (Overtime over 40). Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or diploma in a skilled trade or adequate experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25 - $30 Based on experience.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
