Heavy Vehicle Mechanic – Job Responsibilities

  • Perform routine servicing and preventive maintenance on heavy vehicles (trucks, trailers, tippers, and buses).
  • Diagnose mechanical issues in engines, transmissions, brakes, axles, and hydraulic systems.
  • Repair or replace defective parts such as clutches, bearings, brakes, and suspension components.
  • Conduct regular inspection and road test of vehicles to ensure proper functionality.
  • Maintain records of repairs, spare parts used, and maintenance schedules.
  • Follow workshop safety rules and use tools/equipment properly.
  • Support the workshop team during breakdown repairs at site or roadside.
  • Identify and report recurring mechanical faults to the supervisor for permanent solutions.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping and cleanliness of the working area.
  • Maintain efficiency and productivity to minimize vehicle downtime.

Heavy Vehicle Electrician – Job Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair all electrical faults in heavy vehicles including wiring, lighting, and alternator systems.
  • Perform installation and maintenance of vehicle batteries, horns, relays, and other electrical accessories.
  • Troubleshoot and repair ECU (Electronic Control Unit), sensors, and fuse systems.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance of electrical and electronic components to avoid major failures.
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams and service manuals.
  • Install additional equipment such as reverse cameras, GPS systems, and emergency lights when required.
  • Test repaired vehicles to confirm proper electrical operation.
  • Maintain detailed records of all electrical repairs and parts replaced.
  • Adhere to all safety standards while performing electrical work.
  • Assist mechanics during combined mechanical and electrical fault diagnosis.
