HGV Class 1 & 2 Driver

Overview
We are seeking experienced HGV Class 1 & 2 Drivers to join our professional logistics team at Harringtons Builders PLC, The successful candidates will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of Plant, Aggregates and Goods across various locations. This Role is a mixture "no day is the same" The role offers an excellent opportunity for drivers with a strong background in commercial driving, delivery experience, and familiarity with flatbed operations. Applicants must hold valid HGV Class 1/2 licence and demonstrate a commitment to safety and punctuality. All vehicles are under 5 years old and the latest additions to the fleet are 2025 registered.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate HGV Class 1 or Class 2 vehicles, including Flatbed lorries, Hiab's, Tippers and Low Loaders ensuring compliance with all road safety regulations and company policies.
  • Deliver goods to multiple destinations in a timely and professional manner, maintaining accurate delivery documentation.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure vehicle safety and report any defects or issues promptly.
  • Secure cargo effectively on flatbeds or other specialised equipment, ensuring load stability during transit.
  • Adhere to scheduled routes and delivery times, demonstrating excellent organisational skills.
  • Maintain a clean and well-maintained vehicle, complying with health and safety standards at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with the Plant team regarding delivery schedules, delays, or issues encountered on the road.

Skills

  • Proven experience as a commercial driver within construction sites, particularly with flatbed lorries, Low Loaders, Hiab and Tippers or similar vehicles.
  • Valid HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence with a clean driving record.
  • Strong understanding of road safety regulations and best practices for commercial driving.
  • Delivery driver experience is highly desirable, demonstrating reliability and customer service skills.
  • Ability to handle physically demanding tasks such as securing loads onto Vehicles.
  • Excellent organisational skills to manage routes efficiently and adhere to schedules.
  • Good communication skills for liaising with dispatch teams and clients professionally. Pay: From £22.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 50.0 per week
