HGV Class 1 Driver

Day Shift Monday to Friday OR Sunday to Thursday available, £40,000 PA plus meal allowance & night out payments. Possible 1-2 nights out required per week.

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled truck driver to join our logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently from Mossend Railhead and/or Teesport Dock to RDCs in central Scotland. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, punctuality, and excellent customer service. The ideal candidate should possess experience in commercial driving, particularly with containers, and have a passion for delivering exceptional service.

Duties

• Operate a lorry to transport goods to designated locations while adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
• Load and unload cargo safely, ensuring that it is secured properly for transport.
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including delivery notes and logs.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays.
• Follow all safety protocols to minimise risks while on the road and at delivery sites.
• Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, addressing any concerns or questions from clients.

Skills

• Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role within commercial driving.
• Ability to operate vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and traffic laws.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively.
• Good communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.
• Ability to handle physical tasks such as loading and unloading cargo.
• A valid commercial driving licence is essential, along with a clean driving record.
